We have had three batches of gold stripe maroon clownfish and this is the first time we have successfully siphoned the eggs out with our busy schedule. We have two fry that have made it the first day. We have a hard time finding live rotifers in our area so I have ordered them for tomorrow or the day after. Right now I was able to find frozen rotifers and they look to be eating them the problem is the waste. Wondering if anyone has suggesstions for how often to clean and change the water? How much water? etc.

the rotifers have been in the green water for 24 hours so far. Hatch night is tonight. How much of the green water rotifers should I filter and how often? Filter one cup of rotifers? and then rinse the filter in baby tank?

Hi could you tell us more about your fry tank like do you have anything in the fry tank, like rocks, what wattage of heaater do youuse to heat it do you get the water from an existing tank or is it new water, how long till the fry look like actual clownfish. How long till theyll accept flake and how fast do they grow. Do you cover your tank with black paper?
Thanks

Sam ... you can never overfeed the fry rotifers, it could have been the brine shrimp ... only if you are not cleaning the tank on a daily basis. We have had 24 spawns from our Percula's and the first few spawns after hatching, they died ... I did some research and found out that if the rearing tank have lights on or if they come into contact with the heater, it will fry them, and sure enough ... that was our problem! Hope you got your problem solved!

Our Clownfish bred unexpectedly, and have been using this site as a reference. We did not have live rotifers, so I attempted to feed them Sally's San Francisco Bay Brand Frozen Rotifers. Many of the Fry seem to be eating them. I am also attempting to harvest the rotifers out of my larger tank to put in by turning the pumps off, shining a light from the top, and siphoning them from the top after about 15 minutes. Thought you should know about the frozen rotifers, since I am sure others will not realize their clownfish will lay eggs in time to get live rotifers. I will keep you informed on their progress. Thanks, Dan

Hi, I had around 250 clownfish fry that was 4 weeks old.
I started to loose a few everyday. I was feeding them baby
brine shrimp and rotifers. I think I was over feeding them.
The belly was orange and they looked healthy. I siphone the aquarium three times a day. I replace the water with new saltwater that I have made up in another aquarium. The salt level and PH was the same as the fry tank. How many baby brine shrimp would you feed them each feeding? I was feeding them at 6:00AM,12:00PM and 6:00PM. Thank you,Sam
