Is this ok for the fry?
how long would it be ok to keep them in here?
should i go with a larger nano?

-and-

has anyone heard of or used one of these?

don't know how it works, but maybe it might??

idea is still a work in progress, got a huge long tentacle, just gotta decide on the type of clown and pick them up this week.

They will be in a new 40 breeder that is connected to my established 125 predator tank and 20 gal fuge.

Both Items are nice , depends how much you want to spend ! first I just use a 2 liter bottle (Green ) to hatch my BBS it takes 24-36 hours ,just use an airstone set on full . you are in business !

I like the 3 gal tank but you will not use the filter on the fry tank , only will be using an airstone in the beginning , I do like the light which I wish could be sold seperately! price out a 2.5 or 5 gal tank ,FL light I got a (4w one at home depot )less then $10 ,and aerator ,I also use a egg crate as a top of my tank , that`s all you would need to start with for a fry tank , I hatched my fry in a 2.5 gal with daily water changes (1Qt) ,my fry have been in this tank for 22days now !

I'm going to turn the filter off and do an airstone until they are large enough for the minor fiteration that the stock filter produces. I don't want to be dealing with so many containers and I like the look of the picotope. I haven't decided on how I am going to do the roti, do you just do brine or is the roti a must? :?:

I like the light as well, kinda what drew me to the tank. I like the fact that it has the beveled edges as well.

can you post pics of your setup? what kind of clowns do you have and how many times have your clowns bred?

how long do you plan to keep your fry in the 2.5 gal for?

Yes, rotifers are a must in the beginning , I`m feeding mine till day 24 ,you can start feeding live BBS from day 5 or 6.

for the rotifers I have 4 cultures running now just in case of a crash , but all are in 3 gal buckets with an airstone in each one .

I dont have any pic`s of my setup , but just a basic tank ,heater ,airstone and light , nothing fancy . Mine have layed eggs 3times so far but I was lucky to have 18 babies so far from batch #2 .it was rough going in the beginning , but once you get the hang of it ,it`s really not too bad ,just lots of work :)

I have a pair of Ocellaris clowns .

glad to hear things are going good for you. what do you plan for the babies? do you have any other tanks? what about an anemone?

I had a problem with one, and two of the clowns I tried pairing my female true perc up with, and the long tentacle she hosted wouldn't anchor. I lost her last night. I tried putting her into my mini at about 11, but by 12 she was gone.

The clowns are doing well so far , got another 12 fry at day 5 , so soon I`ll have quite a few for a beginner :) I have two tanks and might put quite a few in the 29 gal tank . Not sure yet what I will do with all of them ! I dont have any anemone s in my tanks . My pair sleep in a big finger leather coral . The one in the pic`s .the male is the first one in then the female sleeps on top of the male . who knows that`s their sleeping arrangment

I never had much luck with anemones even with all the light in the tank !

Good luck with your new set up. Miamiangler is correct on keep it simple with the tank you will spend enough on the food for them. Small tank, air stone, black heater no lights on it, basic fish lights for poor seeing eyes but delicate eyes, rotifer cultures with a coffee filter to get them out for the fry also rotifer diet to feed the rotifers, then live 1-2 day old brine shrimp the best at day 5 or 6 to start and lots of time. Oh! and happy clown fish. Miamiangler seems to have a good book.
