REED MARICULTURE

Thank you for your information regarding REED. I purchased a starter culture and some Rotifer Diet and have a culture brewing in a 2.5 gallon aquarium. Setup is as follows:

2.5 gallon All-Glass aquarium
Air pump
Air stone
Stealth heater for up to 8 gallons size
SG at 1.015 (same as Shipment)
water temp 80.1 degrees F
Water color a lime-green constantly with Rotifer Diet

It seems like the Rotifers are doing fine, I sampled 12.5 mL of tank water and shot a light through it. I noticed tons of live Rotifers swimming around! Good sign!

Congrats. Reed is definitly the way to go. The rotifers are a little pricey but well worth it. As meantioned, you should start another culture once your numbers get higher. It never fails to have a backup. Not to meantion once the clownfish get eating, they eat a lot of rotifers very quickly. Keep us posted.

I don't know what happened, but after three days my rotifer culture was a "ghost town" in there. The first two days, when I sampled about 20ml of green water, it was crawling with rotifers. I may have made the mistake of culturing too early. I also added a piece of filter material to catch some of the "waste" but I am thinking the rotifers got into the filter and I just rinsed them away? Today, I still have the green water going and a 20ml sample has about 20-30 live rotifers in it. Should I keep it going? Any thoughts to what happened? Also, Reed mentions "rotifer floss" .... Is this something you use?
