To all---

I wanted to let everyone in the forum know I have officially "thrown in the towel" on raising clownfish.

The main reason is: I wanted to take on the challenge and see if I could sucessfully raise fry to fish. I did!!!

Batch 6- Two Percularis clownfish survived

Batch 8- Two Percularis Clownfish survived

Batch 10- I currently have 7 Clownfish in the fry tank that hatched on Valentines Day and are eating newly hatched brine. The other 4 are in my 20Gallon growout tank.

The other reason is: IT'S HARD!!!

I commend all of you that dedicate your time to raise these little buggers to full size!!!
I also want to thank Scott and others whom offered valuable tips and advice on how to do this as well. THANK YOU!

Michael

Hi Michael,

it is you decision but I will give you my humble opinion. In y case, raising saltwater fish is a passion and raising a batch of 40 or more clownfish is a challenge and is very rewarding when you succeed. There is no real tricks other than providing them live food (rotifers and brine shrimps) and do water changes on a steady basis. Yes it is time consuming but winter season is the best period since we spend more time at home, I will slow down the process starting May and get back into it in October.

it was interesting sharing info with you

Yes, I have to admit that it is hard to let the eggs hatch in my 90 gallon main tank. Currently, there are another batch of eggs hanging (Batch 12).

Here are a few photos of my Percularis clowns that I raised.

Maybe I will start up again..... 8-)

Hello All!

I wanted to update the Forum on the status of my Breeding Pair. A few months ago, My female True Percula laid more eggs than I had ever seen. The strange thing is, after about three days, the eggs vanished and they have not spawned since. I did have a Valentini Puffer that eventually died and a Powder Blue Tang that is very healthy but seemed to "torment" my pair.

My question is, is there a specific spawning season? Perhaps in the Fall and Winter?

I have attached some pics from my other "Percularis" Clownfish I raised. They are all doing well.
