egg eating clowns

Postby stnmasn » Wed Jan 20, 2010 3:34 pm

my percs just laid their first batch of eggs 2 days ago..they have been diligently protecting, and mouthing their clutch they also seem to be eating them slowly but by midday 3rd day there were no more eggs. :(
i am sure it isnt their tankmates.. it is their first batch of eggs..is it common to eat eggs? is it possible that the eggs all died and they ate them as the eggs died?
Any insight would be very appreciated.

I believe mine ate one of their batchs. I think they knew the eggs were not viable. Is this the 1st batch? Make sure they have a good variety of foods to eat to help make sure your clowns have a balanced diet for good eggs. Thats all I can think of for now. Maybe the next batch will be OK. Mine have had 2 batchs after the one they ate. One I have lots of fry from 60 or more that should morph soon. The 2nd batch should hatch Sat. or Sun. Good luck!

yes alanna this is their first batch of eggs..so l figure they are novices and maybe the eggs werent viable..l hope they aren"t serial egg eaters  . I have been trying to give them a varied diet...but l"ll admit that it is mostly flake food and mysis.. what do you feed your parent clowns ?
How'd your second batch hatch?
Thanks for your input..good luck with your little ones !!
