breeding pair?

Postby ayeesha » Wed May 12, 2010 5:29 am

Hi I am very new to the marine world. I have aquired a pair of clown fish privately and was told they are not a mated pair but one is female and the other is male, as one is larger than the other. I want to breed from these guys is this still possible, do I have to encourage the first mating now?

If the pair are truely male and female, then start feeding more often.
Make sure they hang together and if you start seeing them 'dance" together, than
they are a pair. If they start clean rockwork or glass, then they are preparing the surface
to lay eggs on.

It may take anywhere from 1 month to a year or two until they do spawn.

Just feed a variety of frozen foods such as mysis, krill, and some brine shrimp for their diet.
Make sure your temp is around 82-83F and this will help.

Good Luck
